ABOUT THE AACS of AUSTRALIA

Aims

The subject of members’ interests has spread from Australian historic arms to arms and their accoutrements from any era and from any area, world wide.

Our aim is to publicize our existence to assist in the locating, the collecting and the preservation of all antique arms.

We also foster research into the manufacture, the history and the employment of those arms.

History

Seven dedicated antique arms collectors formed the Society in 1955, with first inaugural meeting held in a small chemist storeroom in the Sydney suburb of Burwood. They realised that by forming a formal society they could help in the preservation of Australia’s historical heritage in relation to arms for future generations. Membership is now over 950 and the Society has affiliation with Sydney’s Power House Museum.
